Mayor’s Charities

The Mayor of Derry, Councillor Paul Fleming, has this year chosen two worthy charities as part of his Mayoral year appeal.

Parkinson’s Disease Society (Foyle Branch)

“The conquest of Parkinson’s Disease and the alleviation of the distress, through effective research, education, welfare and communication”.

The Foyle Branch of Parkinson’s Disease aim to raise awareness locally so that they can get a better understanding of Parkinson’s and how it effects people’s lives. Their members are people with Parkinson’s, their carers, family members and friends.

HURT

“At HURT we look forward to a society where nobody is without a place to call home, where drug related harm is minimised and the range of quality drug & alcohol services are maximised”.

HURT family support group is a registered charity which supports drug & alcohol users and their families. The drop in centre provides a range of emotional support services and Complimentary therapies to support those affected by addition, in order to improve their health and well-being.
